I have been unable to identify the William HAMILTON referred to below.

Please to pay or cause to be paid at twenty days sight this my first Bill of Exchange not being paid the Sum of five Pounds lawful money of Great Britain to Captain Wm HAMILTON or order. For value and charge to account of your loving brother John TRUMAN.

Whereas the good ship or vessel called the Arabella of the burden of One Hundred and Forty tons or there abouts now in the River of Thames where William HAMBLEDON is Commander bound on a voyage from Kent of the said River of Thames to Madagascar and from thence Buenos Aires, River La Plate or some other ports or places and then back into the said River of Thames and whereas the said William HAMILTON hath told us severally whose names are hereunder written to serve in the said ship during the said intended voyage according to the several places offices and employment. And for such rate and price as with our several names are hereunto subscribed. Now we the said several persons whose names are hereunder written do hereby severally covenant and agree everyone of us by and for himself severally and not jointly nor one for another unto and with the said William HAMILTON his executors Administrators and Assigns that each one of us whose names are hereunder written shall and will severally serve in the said ship during the said intended voyage according to our several places offices or employment therein whether the said William HAMILTON or any other person or Persons shall command the said ship and not leave the said  ship any time during the said voyage without licence of the said William HAMILTON or the Master of the said Ship the time being until her first and next When into the Port of London. And we do hereby promise not to demand any more than half pay until the said ship shall be heard at Gravesend. But in default of performing what we have herein severally covenanted to do and perform such of us as shall so make default shall and will not only forfeit unto the said William HAMILTON and loose the several wages and sums of money as shall be then due unto us severally for our respective services therein but also well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said William HAMILTON his Executors Administrators or Assigns the sums of fifty pounds a piece of lawful money of Great Britain any law equity or custom to the contrary thereof of in anywise not withstanding. In witness whereof we have severally hereunto subscribed our names together with our several offices and employment and monthly pay and fix our seals the fourth day of January Anno Dom 1757 and in the fourth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the grace of God King of Great Britain &c.
