The document is primarily concerned with the fate of British seamen Prisoners Of War who died during the war in Turkey from the ships “Assiout” and “City of Rhios”. These ships were seized at the start of the First World War and sunk as block ships. The disposal of the wrecks in 1942-1947 is covered in documents FO 371/67314 and FO 371/33397.
